Our superb platter has an outside diameter of 295mm and weight of 1.85kg. Six precision CNC turned 316 grade stainless steel weights shift mass to the outer circumference giving an increase in the natural flywheel effect of the platter resulting in improved speed stability, accuracy and consistency. A working height of the platter at 14mm enables the Vinyl the be placed directly on the platter with no adjustment of the VTA required (excluding RP2 & P2 which will require the VTA adjustment).
Fitting and set up of the platter is literally a case of lifting off the old platter and placing the new one on. As our platter is specifically designed to be no more heavy than the standard Rega glass platter you can be sure there will be no unwanted wear to the spindle bearing thrust face.
 
The audio benefits of acrylic are well known....There's a reason high-end 'Audiophile' turntables use the material, especially in the platter for direct contact with the vinyl.
Different platter materials be it resin, glass, MDF, various alloys or holographic snake oil infused carbonite, all 'colour' the sound of vinyl playback with their own unique sonic signatures. Acrylic being relatively dense while similar in mechanical impedance and properties to vinyl is generally regarded to give playback a less 'splashy', natural see through sound with improved mid-range and tighter bass.
